SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
Position: Senior Accountant

Reports To: President and VP of Operations and Finance

You’ll manage day-to-day financial transactions, oversee job costing and billing, and ensure accurate financial reporting. From tracking fleet depreciation to managing payroll and benefits, your work will directly support the teams building our infrastructure. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, our Controller, and external accounting partners to ensure financial accuracy and operational efficiency—while helping to define and elevate the role of finance in our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Transactions and Reporting

Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), including invoice processing, payments, collections.

Create and manage job budgets and revenue uploads using accounting software (e.g., Foundation) to support project managers.

Prepare and maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports.

Generate detailed job cost and billing reports to support project managers and engineers with AR and monthly billing.

Support and help drive financial reporting.
Asset and Payroll Management

Fleet Depreciation Management: Track and manage depreciation of fleet vehicles and heavy equipment.

Payroll: Oversee payroll processing in coordination with a third-party payroll provider.

Salary Mangement: Administer salaries, bonuses, and employee benefits.

Manage employer-sponsored benefits packages, including healthcare, retirement plans, and fringe benefits.
Collaboration and Compliance

Work closely with the Controller and external accounting firm to ensure compliance and smooth financial operations.

Support internal and external audits and financial reviews as needed.
Key Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or progress toward CPA preferred).

4+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment.

Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.

Proficiency in accounting software and Excel. Experience in Foundation Software or HCSS a strong plus.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Effective communication skills for working with engineers, managers, and external partners.

Experience in heavy civil construction, fleet asset management, and depreciation is a strong plus.
